In his first U.S. exhibition after a one-year
sabbatical,
Chilean-born Alfredo Jaar presents an installation of
new photo-based works, taking the forms of video pro-
jection, transparencies on large-scale light boxes and
still photographs.
Jaar's work, which is political in nature, asks the viewer
to think about how they receive infor-mation about world
events, and how they respond to that information. It is
difficult deals with racially-motivated violence and genocide
in Africa.
Let There Be Light / It is difficult, a two-volume book set
published in 1998, covers the Rwanda Project and ten
years of Jaar's work. It is available for $80.00.
